Bay colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this wonderful vintage brass telescope on a tripod base. The eyepiece, focusing shaft, lens, and mounting apparatus are brass with a nice patina that has developed over the years. The optical tube was embellished with individually cut bamboo panels that create a nice visual effect. The optics are in good working condition and the lens cap that always seems to get lost somehow is still with the piece. We have bought and sold a fair amount of these telescopes throughout the years, but this is our first time having one with the bamboo inlays. The design of the tripod base allows the telescope’s height to be easily adjusted. These make a nice holiday gift and are interesting pieces for an office or living room. The tube measures 39” long fully extended with a 2 1/2” diameter at its widest point. At the lowest setting the base has a 20” diameter and with the tube parallel to the ground the telescope is 37 3/4” tall. When the legs are fully extended the base has a 32” diameter and the telescope is 61” tall with the tube parallel to the ground.
