Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer you this exceptional 1920's custom made, two piece chest of chest Chippendale styled flat top Highboy. This is a real jewel of Boston's finest custom furniture. It lacks a label as did many of the finest maker's pieces allowing their presence to make the statement of who its maker was. It was also an additional cost in many cases as they were re-sold by furniture stores in the day. We believe this Highboy was made by either the firms of Kaplan, Mayflower or Old Colony. We have 40 years worth of experience in this area of practice. These firms produced their case pieces to be one cut above Paine's. Highly crafted to be the best for their Boston clients of immense neww wealth in the Pre American Depression era. Built entirely out of the most select cuts of South American Mahogany and well defined by triple hand carved fans embellishing its two piece case along with molded drawer facings and exceptionally well defined crown molding. The top chest has carved quarter columns on plinths in a 2 over 3 drawer format. The base chest stands on elegantly formed tall cabriole legs terminating in the crisp precise pad feet with a 1 over 3 drawer format and sweet acorn drop finials. All its secondary panel are crafted out of mahogany as well all attesting to the craftsmanship of this Boston Custom period solid mahogany masterpiece. Most interesting is its very rare size measuring 28 3/4" long, 18" wide and 59 1/2" tall. This Highboy is in very good overall condition. Please excuse our hands smudging its wax in our photos.
