Bay Colony Antiques is honored to offer you this outstanding Circa 1900 solid mahogany Chippendale styled Partner's Desk. This is a true Partner's Desk (not a faux specimen) with working drawers on both sides. It possesses a very nice original finish with a deep rich patina along with its original brasses, locks & key. The entire top of this desk has a deep gradooned carving that brakes to both right & left angles. Each corner is detailed by carved quarter columns. The legs are defined cabriolet legs with carved knees and masterfully detailed ball & claw feet. Each the right and left sides of the case are accented with carved shells. The knee holes have highly carved arched aprons with center drop carved shell fans. Both sides of the case have four drawers in each and all the elements of the desk are made from solid mahogany down to the secondary woods of the drawer panels. Each drawer is dovetail joined from its front and back sides. This is the best Chippendale partner's desk we have seen in the last year and we could not possibly be prouder to put our name on it. You are looking at fresh off the truck photos with the desk's top only receiving a fast soft paste waxing. It is causing some of the shiny spots in it's top we see reflecting our photo background within our pictures. The desk has a very desirable old dry finish with no sun bleaching. We will give the entire desk a waxing before you receive it. It is 53" long, 33" wider and 28 1/2" tall. The knee holes are 19" wide and 23" high to the center of the drop shell carved fan. The arch forming in the apron cleverly allows for additional leg room.
