Set of Six Chippendale Philadelphia Style Mahogany Tasselback Dining Chairs
Set of Six Chippendale Philadelphia Style Mahogany Tasselback Dining Chairs
With our highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the great pleasure in offering for sale a spectacular set of dining chairs by the Henredon furniture company. Each chair is crafted to the absolute highest standards of 20th century furniture production as Henredon remained among the elite makers of fine furniture in America along with Baker and Henkel Harris at a time where quality furniture production was in sharp decline. The traditional style of the chairs are fashioned in the early Chippendale style with a central carved tassel-back design which was a feature of the finest chairmakers in Philadelphia during the 18th century. The chairs have well formed and shaped crest with rolled ears and carved elements. The chairbacks are formed with a traditional baluster vase form with gothic influenced pierced carvings and intricate interlacing elements centered by the tassel-back motif. Each chair has exceptional carving work at the chair knees and are raised on well formed ball and claw feet. The chair seats have gadrooned carvings along the frame and feature cloth damask patterned upholstery which is clean and well suited for future use. Each chair frame is solid and very sturdy without any issues to note and will be perfect for everyday use for generations to come. We don't have the sizes of the armchairs on hand but the side chairs measure 24 1/2" wide x 23" deep x 37 1/2" tall with an 18 1/2" seat height.
