SET OF 8 SHERATON PERIOD FANCY PAINTED CHAIRS CIRCA 1820 IN BEST PAINT SURFACE
We are honored to offer you this fantastic set of 8 Circa 1830 Sheraton Fancy Painted Chairs. One of the best sets of 8 in America! These are an extremely rare & important formed Sheraton period chairs. Each had 2 back splats containing a painted cartouche over another 3 back splats at the lower back. The five back splats all possess curved forming contouring to the users backs. The right and left uprights have a thumb back carved ears. Each have solid rush seats in a compass form. The front legs are smartly turned and tapered terminating in compact ball feet. They have diamond carved fronts & double side stretchers. The main body of color is made by a dark yellow mustard over green paint. The details of paint decorations over the mustard paint color employs a floral & fruit tole work with additional decorated designs using black and gold paints. You are looking at straight off the truck photos. We got these having a few chips in paints on some of the chairs. Our woodworker will address these prior to their leaving our shop. There are a 200 year old set of chairs that have been loved and cherished . The only other issue we desire to disclose is an old small professional restoration to the back leg of one of the chairs. The entire set of chairs are tight and strong. Each measures 18" long (across the front seat), 15" in width, 33" tall with 17 1/2" high seat heights.
