With our utmost pleasure we are delighted to bring you this monumental and totally unique antique art glass lighthouse with surrounding sailboats on a bed of shaved glass simulating the sea in a glass Victorian specimen case with footed wooden base plinth. We have seen one or two of these in this degree of detail in our careers that were miniatures. Nothing even close to this size! This is a remarkable example in a 19" tall Victorian domed glass specimen display that is 13" in diameter. Its workmanship and detail is truly remarkable. To describe it more accurately: It is a lighthouse sitting on a bluff with grounds and the lighthouse keeper's house. It has five various types sailboats sailing around it on sea of flaked shaved glass. The glass is in a multitude of colors with phenomenal detail and workmanship. It is an amazing piece of antique 19th Century glass art that was no doubt made by a gifted New England glass artisan and sold to wealthy summer tourist in the Victorian era. No piece in the Day collection postdates 1902 and this is definitely the display dome it originally came in. Due to the delicate construction of this piece we will not ship it by conventional means. We will work with you anyway we can to get it to you in our normal range of travel. We are most aware of the passions lighthouses evokes. This piece transcends several intersections of collecting interests.
