RARE CHRISTENING BANNER FOR THE NUCLEAR ATTACK SUBMARINE JAMES K POLK SSBN 645
RARE CHRISTENING BANNER FOR THE NUCLEAR ATTACK SUBMARINE JAMES K POLK SSBN 645
We are honored to offer you this ultra rare hand painted canvas christening banner belonging to the US Navy's nuclear attack submarine the James K Polk. The banner celebrates the General Dynamics' Yard Crew's completion of the Polk 11 days ahead of schedule. The Polk stated its life as a Nuke Attack boat in the 1960's and was refitted twice becoming an mediate range ICBM missal launching sub . This banner was from the Polk's last refitting in April of 1983. It was presented to a US Naval Admiral and we obtained this ultra rare piece of US Naval History through his estate. The banner is approximately 3' wide and 8' long. It is some light staining consistent with an actual object you would expect to find strapped to the hull of a Submarine.
