During the later half of the 20th century traditional American furniture either declined in quality or became increasingly expensive to produce. Each table is designed in the tradition of the American Federal style with dropleaf ends and an overall bowed form. Both tables are comprised of a brilliant selection of mahogany and contrasted with various inlaid motifs made of lighter tones. The tops feature boldly figured grain matched crotched mahogany with a central sunburst or paterae inlaid pattern and a vibrant band inlay spanning the perimeter. The tables have single band inlaid drawers fitted with brass pulls which open and reveal the Councill Craftsman labels inside. These tables are supported by four tapered legs with the front legs embellished with oval pinwheel inlays and tapering bellflowers. The tables are further accented with string inlay and band inlaid cuffs towards the bottom of each leg.
