ULTRA FINE PAIR OF ROSEWOOD INLAID MAHOGANY CHIPPENDALE STYLED BACHELOR CHESTS

Bay Colony Antiques takes the most exceptional honor in offering you this remarkable quality pair of Circa 1920's custom made Chippendale styled mahogany inlaid Bachelors Chests by Joseph Gerte of Boston. We were founded in the Allston section Boston in 1979. Boston's very finest custom furniture is a passionate subject to us that we are always in aggressive pursuit of . We strongly feel Boston's custom furniture makers of the early 20th century produced the absolute finest furniture America ever made. They took the discipline of our 18th century furniture makers and placed their works on a tier higher. This pair of dressers are some of the finest chests of their type we have ever offered in over 40 years. Each possesses solid mahogany cases with elegant serpentine form, molded shaped tops, exceptional attention to detail scrolled bracket foot attached frame bases, highly figured bookmatched crotched mahogany drawer faces defined with rosewood & ebony inlays. They are in very excellent condition, never seen any abuse, loved & cherished from an impeccably clean Brookline, Massachusetts estate. To find one is a fantastic find. To get a matched pair is extraordinary. They are each 38" long, 19" wide and 37" tall. Without a close second these are the very best pair of custom Chippendale styled Bachelor chests being offered anywhere. *** We would like to note that a respected colleague has informed us he believes these chest were made by the Brookline, Mass furniture maker H. Sacks. The Sacks firm were very close contemporaries of Gerte's shop so given the lack of a brand we can not rule this out. Often was the case that a shops signature on their case pieces was an additional cost. These were extremely expensive items for their periods & often viewed buy their buyers similar to an auto dealer charging you to put his advertisement on your car.
