Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic early 20th century pair of Antique Sheraton style Tiger Maple & Bird’s Eye Maple chairs. Practically indistinguishable from their early 19th century predecessors, these chairs would be a perfect addition for somebody who wants the look & style of early 19th century Sheraton chairs without having to compromise on structural integrity or condition issues that are commonplace on chairs that are roughly 100 years older. These were made CA 1900-1920 most likely in Grand Rapids, New England (Gardner), North Carolina (High Point), or Upstate New York.

The chairs have an attractive grain pattern with bold Tiger Maple & Bird’s Eye Maple figuring. The chairs have hand tied cane seats with a rounded front edge on the seat box. As with every other natural fiber woven seat, we would recommend using a cushion to help evenly distribute the weight across the seats. The seats are free of any holes or breaks and are in wonderful condition. Caners or seat weavers charge by the hole, and as one could guess by looking at the seats, it gets expensive fast if you need to replace damaged seats. The vasiform splats and the scrolled crests are solid Birds Eye Maple with a lively grain containing many “eyes”. The chairs are very sturdy and are immediately ready for regular everyday use. The chairs measure 18” wide x 17” deep x 33 1/4” tall with a 17” seat height.
