With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this wonderful pair of antique side chairs. This pair of chairs are truly a marvelous find having been constructed from a premium selection of solid tiger maple lumber which has beautiful figuring and a remarkable depth of character. The chairs have developed a lovely honey amber color throughout many years with time creating a warm patina that highlights the underlying beauty of each chair. Both chairs feature rose carved crests that were worked centuries ago by a master wood carver. Curvature is employed throughout both of the chair frames with the back supports, seat rails, and uprights made to be as comfortable as possible through their design being in close proportion to the sitter's back. Additional curvature is employed on the front stretchers as to provide the highest degree of reinforcing strength possible along with the curved sabre form legs. Double stretcher side supports give each chair additional support and overall both chairs are incredibly sturdy. Both seats are fashioned from hand tied caning with each seat being perfectly fine for regular use with only a minimal amount of distressing as to be expected. Some collectors will place a custom made cushion over the caning which is entirely optional however not at all necessary. These chairs measure 17 1/2" wide at the seats and have an overall depth of 17 1/2". There is 14 3/4" of usable chair seat depth with the seat heights measuring 17 3/4" tall and overall the chairs stand 33" tall.
