Pair of Antique Arts & Crafts Mission Oak Arm Chairs With Matching Footstool
Pair of Antique Arts & Crafts Mission Oak Arm Chairs With Matching Footstool
Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional pair of antique Arts & Crafts armchairs. Anytime we can find a true matched pair of antique mission oak chairs complete with both the standard armchair and paired with an identical rocking chair we feel quite fortunate as they have become increasingly difficult to purchase. The chairs were made in the early 20th century, but the footstool is more modern and not something we would normally purchase. Because it has the same upholstery and came to us with the other chairs, we decided to include it in the lot without a premium to the price. Demand for high quality and comfortable antique arts & crafts furniture has risen considerably in recent years particularly as more Americans continue to build homes outside of large cities. The entire set is built in the tradition of the Stickley craftsmen with frames crafted from a premium grade of quartersawn white oak, also marketed as tiger oak, slat frame construction, and curved back rests. The upholstery is in great condition and provides a high degree of comfort and support with the original spring seats. The frames of each chair are incredibly strong and dependable as they have been treated with considerable care and maintained well by previous owners. The footstool measures 19 1/2” wide x 15 1/2” deep x 16 1/2” tall. The rocker measures 27” wide x 30” deep including the blades x 35” tall with a 17 1/2” seat height. The armchair measures 27” wide x 24 1/2” deep including the splay of the back x 37” tall with an 18 1/2” seat height.
