PAIR 19TH CENTURY OIL PORTRAITS OF MARY & CATHERINE HOLDSHIP OF ALLEGHENY CO. PA
PAIR 19TH CENTURY OIL PORTRAITS OF MARY & CATHERINE HOLDSHIP OF ALLEGHENY CO. PA
With our compliments we are delighted to offer you this superbly executed pair of oil on board mid-19th century portraits. The subjects for these well done portraits are Catherine McElheny Holdship 1778 (possibly 1773 according to genealogy research)-1848 and Mary Earle Holdship 1808-1868. Both well noted in the history of Allegheny County Pa. Each painting is in very good condition in their original oval 26" x 21 1/2" frames labeled and sealed with original paper backing. They very well could be signed, but we are not breaking them out of the original backs. Unsigned or not these were people of means and the family obviously commissioned a talented classically trained painter of the period to execute this portraiture's commission. Estate fresh to the market offering.
