18TH CENTURY PAIR OF FEDERAL PERIOD ACORN CARVED TWIN ROPE BEDS
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
We're proud to offer for sale this exceptional pair of 18th century Federal period maple acorn rope beds. These were made in New England most likely CT or MA but the form was practiced in a wide area. The beds stand on turned legs with a unique bulbous profile with complex transitions topped with absolutely wonderful turned acorn carvings. The headboard and foot board have a nice scrolling pattern adding to their charm. These are finished in a nice light maple / nutmeg color and are in fantastic condition. The beds hold together with carriage bolts and have a decorative brass bed bolt cover decorated with an embossed thistle. These are period beds that originally used a rope foundation to support the user with the rope tie offs still intact. A standard twin mattress will fit on these. There's two options to consider when fitting a box spring to this. A custom smaller box spring can be custom made and will sit firmly on the iron brackets between the rail. At our local bedding company a standard box spring is ~$100 and a custom one is ~150. It's only one extra cut for them to make so it sounds like a much bigger ordeal than it is. If you're within our delivery range of roughly 250 miles we can fully assist in this process. These beds measure 81" long x 39" wide x 43" tall. The interior measurements between the rails measure 32 1/2" wide x 74" long.
