Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic 19th century antique Chippendale style Mahogany desk chair. The chair has a carved crest rail with acanthus leaf carvings at the center and finely formed scroll carved ears. The pierced splat is exceptionally well executed with an intricate design and carved floral rosettes. The shaped arms have generously proportioned carved knuckles and Acanthus leaf carvings where the arms meet the seat box adding to the overall congruity of the design. The seat box has a molded edge with a black needlepoint slip seat decorated with a colorful bunch of flowers at the center that add a nice pop of color to the overall darker tones of the chair. The front legs have a graceful cabriolet curve further embellished with Acanthus leaf carvings at the knees that continue onto the knee blocks on each end. The feet are superbly formed and masterfully carved with an elegant Rococo design. We don't have the sizes of the chair on hand but will amend the listing with them shortly.
