LARGE BODY ANTIQUE BANJO CLOCK BY THE WATERBURY CLOCK CO

With our compliments Bay Colony Antiques is pleased to offer you this wonderful antique Banjo clock by the Waterbury Clock Company. We believe this is a late 19th Waterbury by its maker's porcelain label mounted to the pendulum cavity base. To air to caution it might possibly date to the very early 20th century but it is an antique clock. This is one of the largest bodied specimens for Banjo Clocks with it being a commanding approximate 42" tall. The clock functions wonderfully with a strong beat and pleasingly sounding chimes that report on the our and 1/2 hour. The chimes are very nice with a rich resonating report as opposed to "pings" lesser clocks produce. This is one of Waterbury's higher quality time pieces. It is adorned with reverse glass painted panels on its throat and pendulum windows. We note some loss to the paint on the pendulum panel in its black painted background but the gold & red painted decorations are complete. This is very typical of these clocks & we have opted to leave this minor cosmetic issue alone as opposed to repainting it & detracting from its originality. The body is further defined by an acorn finial, tabernacle balls, nicely carved base terminations and brass embellishments. We would like to thank another ebay member who possesses more knowledge on this subject than its author. As we are informed we had the Westminster chimes incorrect and humbly thank this person for his help. This is a "Willard Series" Banjo by The Waterbury Clock Co. Thank you for your help you make eBay a better place for all of us.
