FINE CIRCA 1800 SALEM MASSACHUSETTS SHERATON MAHOGANY WORK TABLE

Bay Colony Antiques is honored to offer you this very special Circa 1800 (we are identifying it as early 19th century exercising abundant caution but in all likelihood its an 18th century piece) Salem Massachusetts Sheraton mahogany work table made in the American Federal period. We take great pride in offering some of the best American work tables in the country. We select our products for their purity, correctness and rarity. We simply do not select our goods with "cheap" considerations. That's the other guys. We are some of the most aggressive buyers of fine period American and English furniture in the United States and take great pride in offering the "best". This fine Salem work table is defined by large robust & exaggerated turret cookie corners, original brasses and intact lock (sorry no key), fully fitted compartmentalized work drawer, cock bead molded drawers, crisp and precisely rope carved tapered legs terminating in compact ball feet with original brass caster wheels. It is in its original finish with our only noting a very high quality professional addressing of a seasoning split to its top. Seasoning issues are simply a fact of life in period furniture. One can leave them alone, use a filling agent and monkeying around with its finish and this type of museum grade restoration. It possesses nicely hand chamfered pine secondary drawer base panels. These are fairly easy to identify where it was made but to attribute and exact maker is very difficult with Salem having over 150 listed furniture makers and joiners in 1800. This is without doubt crafted by one of the best Salem shops and is not simply just another Sheraton work table. It is one of the best specimens of this discipline we have ever had the pleasure of handling. It is 19 1/2" long, 18" wide and 29" tall.
