Federal Style Tiger Maple Gateleg Dining Table With Bold Grain and Large Drawer
With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in presenting this spectacular tiger maple dropleaf dining table. We had the privilege of recently purchasing a collection of solid tiger maple furniture from a west coast family who received a household of incredible custom made furnishings from their father. The gentleman was a master craftsman quite familiar with early American furniture and he build each piece as a labor of love for his children forty years ago. We feel fortunate to have been able to meet this family and purchase the exceptional collection which they owned as they had no further need for the furniture after deciding to downsize their household. The dining table has a commanding presence and is boldly figured with the choicest solid tiger maple hardwood available at the time it was built. Two large dropleaf ends are hinged to the table and fold upward when supported by the robust swinging gatelegs from underneath. This table was constructed to larger than normal size proportions to provide continued use to their growing family. Typically federal style dropleaf tables are built to smaller size specifications which makes this particular table one of the finest and rarest to be brought to market anywhere. When the leaves are down the table measures 24 1/2" wide x 48" deep x 29" tall. When the leaves are locked up the tabletop measures an impressive 70 1/4" wide.
