IMPORTANT CIRCA 1790-1810 FEDERAL PERIOD PHILADELPHIA BOW FRONT DRESSER WITH PERIOD BRASSES
Bay Colony Antiques is honored to offer you this wonderful late 18th century to early 19th century Philadelphia Federal Period chest of drawers. It is done in a highly figured mahogany with flanking carved columns trimmed in ebony inlays. It possesses excellent Philadelphia stop fluted carved feet with ring turnings & very impressive 13 star period Republic Eagle brasses. Documentation we received with this chest supposedly attributes its original ownership to the Benjamin Chew House. Very possible since most of the Chew's family possession were sacked from the home in a family dispute in the early 19th century. Philadelphia Bow Front Chest don't often come out of Massachusetts estates. It has been nicely maintained receiving some professional structure work and loved, treasured & passed down within a Mass family. It measures 40 1/2", 23 1/4" and 36 1/2" tall. A Philadelphia period masterpiece!
