Bay Colony Antiques is honored to offer you this exceptionally fine antique Chinese Chippendale styled carved mahogany Library Chair. These Lolling chairs are probably defined in the Thomas Chippendale Directory as "Library Chairs" differing in distinction than their Sheraton & Hepplewhite Lolling Chair cousins. This is a very fine and choice specimen with it being in fantastic gold silk upholstery with Orientalist motifs of men playing string instruments and in repose within gardens. With all its leading edges trimmed in brass tacts its a testament to the master upholsterer's work preformed on this chair. It is in excellent condition & 41" tall defined with double horizontal stretchers, gracefully carved arms, repeating carved lattice work flowing down each carved Marlborough leg. It is 28" wide from arm to arm, 24 1/2" in depth and a 17" high seat. One of the best available anywhere!
