18TH CENTURY FEDERAL PERIOD SOLID TIGER MAPLE HUDSON RIVER VALLEY CANNONBALL BED
With our very highest compliments we are honored to offer you this outstanding late 18th century Federal Period solid Tiger Maple Cannonball four posted Cannonball bed. Its origins are identifiable by the squared off & turned blanket rail. Originally designed to hold a horsehair stuffed mattress with a jute rope foundation 3/4 sized bed it has been converted to hold custom sized full sized bedding. The Rabbit edged foundation drops inside the rails and the mattress will lay on top of it. Supported by 4" X 6" thick rails and large steel French bolts it is rock solid. Each piece of tiger maple employed in the crafting of this bed is the very boldest grained now employed almost exclusively as veneers in instrument making. We aggressively hunt these American jewels all around the Northeastern United States & this is absolutely one of the best beds we've seen in several years now. Each Head & Footboards are 42 1/2" tall. The bed is 75 1/2" long overall and 52" wide. The interior between the rails dimensions are 46 1/2" X 51 1/2".
