EXCEPTIONALLY FINE & RARE SOLID TIGER MAPLE FEDERAL PERIOD PENNSYLVANIA BUTLERS DESK

Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pride in offering you this stunning late 18th to early 19th Century Federal period American Pennsylvania Butler's Desk in solid tiger maple. We are some of America's most aggressive buyers of high quality American period tiger maple furniture. We stay within a fixed price ceiling of the offerings we place upon this sales platform given the variables of unknown buyers whom are not the clients we are seeking for our over 40 year old family practice. We simply can not open ourselves up to dramas with over 15K pieces given some unfortunate past experiences selling to strangers. We hope to someday consolidate all of our merchandise here as we reduce our dependency on a select few auction houses many of our highest tier items end up for sale at during their most important sales. Suffice to say that there are not too many important American Furniture & Decorative Arts events in the Northeast we are not involved with. We have selected this important American treasure to offer on our eBay based sales platform for the keen eye of the educated collector. This is truly an amazing Federal period solid tiger maple desk with chest of drawers. We feel its origins are indeed within the Lehigh County Pennsylvania region. We can support that alone with the fascinating old script text we discovered within its case. Among other interesting notes on the case's pine and poplar secondary woods is noted "This bureau was put up here Oct 25 1924 by John Fairhurst & Harvey Wright and was the property at one time of Judge Albright Lehigh County-Please don't break me if for any reason you want to take me down". We are delighted to tell you this previous concern of a past owner was honored and we will find this a home befitting it. This is a massively dense case piece with very significant weight caused be the remarkably fine thick solid tiger maple one piece planks comprising its construction. All of the planks were select grades of the very best solid tiger maple & its highly crated desk's interior. A lot of pride went into the craftsman's art. The interior of the desk is well appointed with valances, cubbies, center prospectors door with drawers behind it flanked by additional drawers. It is equipped with its original thick solid period glass pulls. With an overhung case construction it possesses ebonized columns standing upon turned vasal legs terminating in button feet. Our policy is to only offer the choicest pieces on this sales platform as our business model. We are too busy to be handling items with major flaws & that is not what we offer our clients. We note the loss of a desk lids lock but we are sure that can be rectified by its next owner if they have exceptional security needs. Without a close second this is one of the best pieces of true American Federal period furniture on this tier that we have had the pleasure of handling for a very long time. Further defined by amazing construction techniques it has all its correct original secondary panels showing wonderful evidence of deep hand tooling marks. It lines up perfectly for the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania Cicra 1800.
