We are honored to offer you this rare and extra fine late 18th century Federal period Portsmouth New Hampshire solid tiger maple & cherry double blank door secretary desk. We are some of the nation's most active buyers of period tiger maple American furniture. The noting "rare" of this desk is not a terminology we use loosely. This is an outstanding Circa 1790's desk with a dovetailed joined case, original finish, original brasses, cherry sides, solid Bird's Eye with transitioning tiger maple right and left columns that flow down to its vasal legs and compact ball feet. The desk has a very nice interior with 8 cubbies over 4 privacy drawers with valance moldings and a flip out writing desk supported by loafers. The secondary woods are old growth single plank native New England red pine. We note the left side door of the interior of the secretary has a old burn on it from a candle. A very small part comes through the front of the door. We make no apology of excuse for it. This is our full disclosure policy. We would rather see it this way then sanded out and refinished. It's correct and simply spectacular in every way measuring 40" long, 20" wide and 69" tall.
