EXCELLENT LARGE 19TH CENTURY INLAID JEWELRY CHEST ON FRAME-THE VERY BEST QUALITY
EXCELLENT LARGE 19TH CENTURY INLAID JEWELRY CHEST ON FRAME-THE VERY BEST QUALITY
We are honored to offer you this most exceptional mid-19th Century inlaid folk art jewelry chest on detachable frame. This is one of the very best caskets we've encountered this past year. The box is intricately inlaid with exotic woods and has a lovely fabric liner, a tufted lid and fitted jewelry compartment. This was no doubt a big sewing box at one time in its life and was retro fitted with a very high quality divider system. The frame is a very high quality later addition made of oak. Boxes of this quality and size are not easy finds. We note it has its original lock but it did not come to us with a key. It's a very simple process to have it re-keyed. The top of the box has some seasoning shrinkage that we make no apology or excuses for. It's a typical occurrence in exotic woods lives over a century or two. This box on stand is 17 1/4" long, 11 1/2" wide and stands 28" tall. The box itself is 17" X 11 1/2" and 9 1/2" tall. The frame is 17 1/4" X 11 1/2" and 18 1/2" tall. The boxes fit to the frame is exact and exemplifies its quality.
