EARLY 20TH CENTURY NEW PEERLESS 12 INCH GLOBE PATENT DATE 1909 WITH RARE GEOGRAPHICAL DATE LINES AND COMMUNICATION CABLES - ATLAS SCHOOL SUPPLY CO CHICAGO
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
We're pleased to offer for sale this wonderful antique early 20th century New Peerless Globe by Atlas School Supply co of Chicago. This globe features a patent date of August 3rd 1909. This globe is unique in the fact that it not only shows the world but also important geological aspects such as equatorial drifts, iso-thermal currents, international date lines, and important communication cables. We often times find these with big holes in them and tears in the paper. This globe in in great condition with one small blemish in the third photo. The base was evidently swapped for a later custom creation. These would generally sit on a cast brass tripod base which we did take into consideration when pricing. Albeit the newer base we still feel this is in exceptional condition and is an important early educator's tool. It's refreshing to see an early globe that hasn't taken a drop throughout it's long life. The globe has a 12" diameter and stands 20" tall.
