EARLY 20TH CENTURY PAIR OF FRENCH LOUIS XV STYLE MARQUETRY END TABLES WITH FLORAL BRASS MOUNTS
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.

We're delighted to offer for sale this great pair of Louis XV style end tables. We've been taking in New England estates as fast as we can process them and are loaded to bear with new arrivals. These are very graceful tables with a sophisticated inlay pattern with decorative brass mounts along the edge and the legs. If you look closely at the inlay you can see pockets of darker shades. This was an advanced inlay technique where the wood would be slightly charred in hot sand, a small yet commonly overlooked trait. Louis XV furniture is known to be more graceful than the earlier XIV style. Historians drew the correlation of the growing social affluence and prestige of notable women led to more graceful and "feminine" design and scale. We're proud to represent this pair in a market dominated by contemporary knockoffs made in the last 20 years that would make an astute collector cringe. The tables are 19" wide x 19" deep and stand 28 1/2" tall.
