ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY SHERATON STYLE PINEAPPLE CARVED MAHOGANY BED

We're proud to offer for sale this great late 19th / early 20th century antique Sheraton style pineapple carved mahogany four post bed. We strongly believe this is a centennial bed made in the late 19th century but to heir to caution it could just as well be an early 20th century custom made piece. The bed is defined by four generously proportioned masterfully carved pineapple posts with acanthus carvings. The headboard is crafted from old growth Caribbean mahogany with wonderful grain and is exceptionally clean. The bed is further decorated with bulbous & ringlet turnings & an acanthus carved blanket rail. The bed has four decorative thistle design bed bolt covers. The bed measures 54 1/4" wide x 84" long x 53" tall. The interior between the rails measure 50" x 76 1/4". This requires a rabbit edge box spring made to get the best use of this. A rabbit edge box spring is designed to sit over the rails with a drop down section between the rails. Custom bedding makers can craft one very cheaply and once that is made standard full size bedding can be used. We work closely with bedding makers and have some insight into the trade. It costs so much to ship box spring & mattresses across the country so because of this bedding is made locally and then branded by manufacturers such as Sealy etc. We understand the average person isn't as well versed in these fields and will happily assist in finding a local resource for you to use no matter where you are.
