EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE ARTS & CRAFTS / MISSION OAK 4 DRAWER AMBERG OFFICE FILE CABINET
Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.
We're pleased to offer for sale this early 20th century antique Amberg four drawer oak file cabinet. Cameron Amberg & CO was established in 1868 in Chicago, IL. The company was a prolific producer of letter files and a wide array of office furniture. This 4 drawer example is in it's old original fumed oak finish with AMBERG decal on the front face. The rich dark color is achieved from an ammonia fuming process that darkens the finish and is highly desirable on old Arts & Crafts / Mission oak. The file has nice recessed panel sides with original drawer pulls, nameplates, and file rods. The drawers actuate with ease and are fitted with old original rubber bumpers which are a nice touch if somebody in the office is constantly slamming drawers. The drawers have Amberg paper labels with a on the adjustable slides in each drawer. The label has a 1906 patent date and boasts "in a class by itself" & "far superior to any other". The file measures 17 1/2" wide x 28" deep x 53 1/2" tall.
