We are delighted to offer you this very fine early 19th century Federal mirror with reverse painted eglomise panel depicting a view of Mount Vernon. This is a Boston mirror signed by a mirror painter identifying themselves with the initials "GBS". We have encountered this artist's works before on mirrors we know to be made in Boston in the Federal period. The painting is very nice on this piece. It has only very slight paint loss indicating this was never left in direct sunlight. The painting is surrounded by a gold foliate border. It has a carved crest, reed carved columns on top of carved plinths. It has its original hanger ring and measures 31" X 16" .
