EARLY 19TH CENTURY CLASSICAL MAHOGANY CHEVAL MIRROR ON TALON FEET WITH ADJUSTABLE FLORAL BRASS CANDLE CUPS
Bay Colony Antiques is pleased to offer you this absolutely stunning mahogany classical cheval mirror. This early 19th century example is made from some of the finest mahogany available at the time and would make a fine addition to any bedroom, parlor, etc. The impressive full length mirror is adorned with a fine inset brass string inlay and each corner the finest brass rosettes. The mirror attaches to the base with adustable decorative brass bolts. The mirror holds strong at all angles. We note some small bends and imperfections in the accordian mechanism of the candle cups. We disclose all imperfections no matter how small to our customers. We were delighted to see the cups and mechanism survive all these years. We handle tens of thousands of antiques every year and we're lucky to handle even a dozen or so cheval mirrors of this caliber, they simply don't surface. The rope carvings and tapered reeded columns are very balanced and precise. Looking at the fine attention to detail, the well thought out and executed proportions this piece highlights a cabinet maker / carver "showing off" as we like to call it. This is no more evident then when we take a look at the base. The hand carved talon feet are crisp and very well done, truly stately and impressive. The Mirror is 37" wide x 22" deep and stands 71" tall.
