ANTIQUE PENNSYLVANIA WALNUT SINGLE DRAWER SIDE TABLE IN THE SHERATON MANNER
With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this exceptional antique walnut side table. These single drawer tables are commonly referred to as "work tables" as traditionally the lady of a home would sit at the table to sew whatever the household required. Often these tables are used as side tables or end tables with them placed next to a sofa. This table also makes for the perfect antique nightstand as it works perfectly beside a bed. These tables are also placed in hallways and can be used practically in any room of the home. It is common to find several tables made in this format in various rooms throughout a proper antique homestead. We do our best to maintain a fine selection of antique single drawer tables for collectors to choose from as they remain among the most popular and practical antique tables that we are fortunate enough to offer for consideration.
This antique side table is a wonderful example dating to either the later 18th or early 19th century. We believe this table to have been made in Pennsylvania however it is possible that the table originated further south. The table is made from a fine selection of walnut and styled in the manner of Thomas Sheraton with expertly turned legs that end on exceptional ball formed feet. The drawer is entirely all original with hand-cut dovetails providing the strength which has allowed the piece to withstand centuries. The table is in overall excellent condition with a beautiful walnut color and all the charm of an early antique made for a home in the countryside.
The antique one drawer table measures 22 1/4" wide x 19 3/4" deep x 28 3/4" tall.
