Council Craftsman Federal Style Mahogany Demilune Console Table With Fan Inlay
Council Craftsman Federal Style Mahogany Demilune Console Table With Fan Inlay
With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this exceptional half round console table. The table is a product of the Councill Craftsman furniture company which along with Baker Furniture and Henkel Harris has remained the premier fine furniture manufacturers of the late 20th century. This particular half round form is more specifically known as a demilune table which is translated to half-moon from the original Greek. Demilune tables remain among the most heavily sought after console tables throughout the entire design world and are becoming incredibly difficult to come by. For this reason, even lesser quality tables are being snapped up by professionals to fill the need for this form in the interior design industry. To be able to find and offer a premium demilune console table by Councill Craftsman is a delight and a truly wonderful opportunity for a collector looking for the perfect addition for their collection.
This table is constructed from a premium selection of Honduran mahogany and lighter toned satinwood used to create a beautiful contrast between the two woods. Crotched mahogany is utilized along the table apron and applied on the top to form a wonderful four way book-matched design. A brilliant half fan pattern is inlaid into the top and two prominent paterae inlays which bare a resemblance to pinwheels are adorned on the upper center legs. This table is a faithful reproduction of a federal antique table with the form and inlay patterns being inspired from the original 18th century tradition. The table has string inlaid panels on the apron and legs which enhance the sophistication of the overall piece. This piece is in excellent condition with the original Councill Craftsman label affixed to the underside of the table. The table measures 36" wide x 18" deep x 29 1/2" tall
