CIRCA 1800 FEDERAL PERIOD NEW HAMPSHIRE LADIES DESK

We are honored to offer you this very choice circa 1800's Federal period New Hampshire Coastal regions Ladies Desk. This is a wonderful period piece employing exotic solid Birds Eye Maple, Quilted Cherry & highly figured mahogany. The double blank door secretary top has a very sophisticated interior with 2 over 7 drawer format, cubbies and divided work station drawer interiors. The desk is finely detailed with cross banded inlays. This two piece case desk is entirely dovetailed joined on both tops and bases. Its condition is excellent having been restored and has a new flip top desk lining in felt. The brasses that adorn the desk are period specimens with cornucopia embossed motifs. These desks typically had wooden knobs and later when imported brasses became available to the more affluent families of New England. These brasses were fitted in the early 19th century and they possess the original back nuts. We like these desks a lot and the denotation of "Ladies Desk" is using it correct original designation. This desk is an exceptional Federal period New Hampshire piece from one of America's most important Colonial trading ports where America's first wealth was made in the China Trade industry. The desk is 43 1/2" long, 20" wide and 57 1/4" tall.
