Chippendale Style Tiger Maple Mirror with Beveled Glass
Chippendale Style Tiger Maple Mirror with Beveled Glass
Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this wonderful Vintage Chippendale Style Tiger Maple Mirror. We purchased this from a local estate and were told the mirror was made by the seller’s grandfather during the 1970’s. The family retained the majority of the furniture that was made for them, but we were able to purchase a couple of mirrors and a pair of tables from the collection. The other mirror has an identical scrolling pattern, but this mirror is Curly Maple & the other is Mahogany.
When dealing with 18th century mirrors it’s commonplace to find some damage or alterations to the scrolling after a couple centuries of use. This mirror exhibits an impressive scrolling pattern & is completely free of any breaks or repairs. The reflective qualities of period mirrors also degrade over time, which we don’t mind, but poses a problem for those who actually want to use the mirror to get ready or to open up a room. This mirror has a beautiful piece of beveled glass inside of the Maple frame with a completely unobfuscated reflection. The sight size of the glass is 14 1/2” wide x 25” tall. The overall dimensions of the mirror are 21 3/4” wide x 1” deep x 40 3/4” tall.
