These are late 19th century English masterpieces made by one of the Countries very best shops. These are legitimate antique chairs and not used furniture. Several tiers in quality above Baker, Henkel & Harris, Kittinger, Eldred Wheeler, etc. products. The set consists of 2 arm chairs & 10 side chairs. The arm chairs have wonderfully rolled carved arms. They measure 28 1/2" wide from arm to arm, 21" in depth, 38" tall with 18" high seats. The sides are 21 1/2" wide and share all the other sizes as the arm chairs. Each defined by precisely executed ball & claw talon carved feet, cabriolet knees, complex interlaced carved back splats, gradooned carved seat rails, heavily carved back crest rails & rolled carved ears. They are made employing peg pinned fastening & molded seat boxes equipped with heavy corner support blocks. These are a wide comfortable sturdy chair with nicely splayed back legs & gracefully raked backs. The absolute best in elegant classic strict Chippendale form. They come to us from a magnificent Connecticut estate possessing one of the best fine English furniture collections that have come to the market in over a decade. We take a families privacy seriously for both sellers & buyers. The chairs are in excellent condition having been refinished about 30 years ago. They show only the slightest evidence of use. They are equipped with slip cover seats that drop into the seat boxes making changing the fabric a simple task. Something we'd be happy to help you with. The fabric was changed when they were refinished & we note sun fading of the fabric & some minor staining since then. Still more than presentable. They have never seen hard use or abuse & always loved and cherished. We practice a full disclosure policy and you should not accept anything less buying from photographs.
