Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic late 19th century Antique Victorian Walnut hanging cabinet. The walnut used for the cabinet is absolutely stunning and has developed a nice warm patina over the years. The baseboard and top both have incised carvings along the edge, and the top has a spindled gallery. The frame and panel doors have a molded edge, and the cabinet retains its original lock & escutcheon. The previous owners never had the key for this but used this replacement key to help to complete the look even though it doesn’t throw the lock. We’ll try to match up a working key from our stockpile of antique keys. If we can’t match one up, we can just simply replace the lock with another Victorian lock which would be no problem because the lock is surface mounted on the interior of the door, not inset. The cabinet has 3 interior shelves, but we were missing one of the trapezoid shaped sticks that rest on the side notches to support the shelves. If you zoom in on the middle shelf you can see the extra shelf is on top of it. The one extra shelf support that we did have can be seen in our photo showing the doors open & we’ll have a copy cut so our end client can use all 3 shelves. The cabinet is in very good condition with our only notes being minor surface wear & the hinges on the right door were moved. The cabinet measures 20 1/4” wide x 7” deep x 25 1/2” tall.
