Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this wonderful 19th century Antique Victorian Walnut spool cabinet / sewing cabinet. A relic from a bygone era when American families had to make their own clothes, these were a nice luxury item for the women of the house. We enjoy the simplicity of the design and it’s a well-made cabinet which is how it has remained in such great condition despite over a century of use. The cabinet was constructed with a frame and panel system on the sides and top, the top also has a molded edge. A decorative molding was applied along every other edge and surrounding the side panels. One piece of molding on the top of the left side was replaced with a quarter-round and one piece on the right side has a tiny crack in it near one of the nail holes towards the bottom. The cabinet has 6 drawers that retain their original brass Victorian ring pulls with floral embossed backplates. The drawers have chamfered bottoms and have useable dimensions of 4” wide x 12 1/2” deep x 4 1/4” tall. The overall dimensions of the cabinet are 22 1/2” wide x 15 1/2” deep x 15 1/2” tall.
