These smaller form chests provide practical storage options in places of the home which are traditionally too narrow or difficult to find an appropriate furnishing for. In the later years of the Victorian era, ladies came to prize their lingerie chests as the perfect solution for storing their various small garments and accessories and amongst well to do families these chests became an outright necessity. While many of these chests are still used for their intended purpose they have also become favored by collectors and decorators for their unique size and ability to store sentimental or precious valuables. We often find in most historical homes there is at least one "problem area" which can really only benefit from one of these rare narrow lingerie chests.
This chest is truly one of the finest examples of its kind with exceptional floral carvings and striking ornamental brass hardware. The lingerie chest features two small drawers and a hatbox storage door over four traditional drawers each of which has full storage capability. The format, size, hardware, and remarkable carving work all contribute into making this chest one of the very finest ever produced in the Victorian era. The chest is finished in a beautiful golden oak color which gives the piece a wonderful presence and is further enhanced when exposed to moderate sunlight. Each side of the lingerie chest has a well-formed raised panel design, and the chest also features finely molded accents and a curved scrollwork design along the front of the chest base. The chest measures 28 1/4" wide x 15" deep x 48 1/2" tall.
