ANTIQUE CHINESE ART DECO CARPET WITH RARE GOLD BACKGROUND
Bay Colony Antiques is honored to offer you this 92" x 60" antique Chinese Art Deco capet with a very rare gold main program background. These carpets were originally sold by Prays & Nichols Department stores in the 20's & 30's and that advent of a genius Manhattan businesswoman named Lea Frahan. Lea went to China and started exporting these carpets to the United States and made a better life for her family in doing it. Bay Colony Antiques is now in the production of several 10 part Netflix mini series and the story of Lea Frahan needs to be told & will be as one of America's 20th century female pioneers of big business. This carpet standing all upon its own is a wonderful and very unusual Chinese art deco carpet with its big bold gold main background and a camel ground earth tone smaller border. It is accented with blues in Phoenix's, potted jade trees, butterflies, vases and other Chinese allegoric designs. The rug has slight wear area that we just need to point out as per own one policy guidelines and not just eBay's and we have this carpet professionally cleaned, sanitized and scotch guarded by our resource who exclusively cleans and repairs our antique carpets that we keep ourselves and sell to our clients. We can say without reservation this is a fantastic carpet.
