ANTIQUE ARTS & CRAFTS TIGER OAK THREE DRAWER FILE CABINETBY GLOBE WERNICKE
With our compliments Bay Colony Antiques proudly offers this excellent antique oak file cabinet. We are always in pursuit of antique office furniture as demand for quality pieces continues to rise across the country. Among the absolute finest names in premium manufactured antique office furnishings are Macey, Library Bureau Sole Makers, Remington Rand, Derby Desk Company, and most notably Globe Wernicke. These companies operated for decades producing the highest standard of home and commercial office furniture with a focus on superior craftsmanship and materials. As evident even a century later, the quality and value of these office furnishings remains unmatched and without equal in this day and age.
This file cabinet is designed in a three drawer format which allows the piece to be situated beside an office desk to serve as a perfect companion. Cabinets with either two or four drawers are far more commonly found so the opportunity to own a rare cabinet with a practical and desirable size will undoubtedly be welcomed by anyone seeking to furnish the right office space. Both sides feature frame and panel construction so that the cabinet can adjust to seasonal changes where wood must be allowed to either gradually expand or contract as the humidity changes. The cabinet has remained in the original finish which is closest to a dark mission brown.
The original gold stenciled decal denoting "Globe" has remained in good condition but we do note the finish is slightly distressed to either side. The cabinet has retained the original brass hardware with only a single file rod being absent. Two of the drawers are fitted with copper plated retracting file dividers that are embossed with the "Globe" brand. The interior of each drawer is made from metal and allows for an interior storage capacity measuring 15 1/4" wide x 21 1/2" deep x 11 1/4" tall. Overall the file cabinet measures 17 3/4" wide x 25 1/2" deep at the brass pull or 24 1/4" deep at the wood case x 41" tall.
