With our highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional early 19th century antique Sheraton cherry & birds eye maple butler's desk. This is a fantastic New England chest, most likely made in New Hampshire, crafted from select cuts of cherry & stunning birds eye maple used for the interior. The chest has a large upper butler's section that folds down on brass arms. The interior has 6 solid birds eye maple drawers, and a valence door that opens to an additional 2 birds eye maple drawers. The chest is further defined by its fully formed carved columns, recessed panel sides, & tall finely turned legs. At some point in the desks life the brasses were swapped for sandwich glass pulls and the locks were removed from the chest. Aside from these two minor alterations the desk is absolutely wonderful and perfectly functional. The desk measures 43" wide x 23 1/2" deep x 45 1/2" tall.
