With our absolute highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this remarkable antique bedside cabinet. We are enthusiastic collectors and dealers of anything related to the 18th and 19th centuries with a specific focus on interior household antiques and it is with this passion that we now proudly bring to market this incredible piece. Centuries have passed since the era for which this antique cabinet was first intended for and yet this example remains as popular and practical as at any point in the past. As most collectors already know the options for functional bedside tables or nightstands can be quite limited. Typically, most people elect for a table with either a flat top or dropleaf ends which may have a drawer or two for storage. This bedside cabinet is completely superior to that of an ordinary work table or end table as it is designed for the optimal amount of storage and regular use.

The entire bedside cabinet is comprised of a beautiful selection of solid mahogany lumber that was expertly crafted into the table which we now proudly offer. The large storage area may have once held a small pitcher and basin as was customary before the widespread advent of traditional household plumbing. To emphasis the quality and limit changes brought on by humidity to the exotic mahogany, the craftsman employed a technique of creating a reeded design by molding the edges of the top and gallery. This subtle yet exemplary design element is among the finest indications of quality construction that can be expected of an 18th century antique. The three-sided gallery itself is a desirable feature as it prevents anything from being accidentally knocked off the surface of the table. The cabinet has been largely left undisturbed by those who have owned it which has allowed the original finish to develop a brilliant patina complete with a warmth and depth of color that can only be created naturally over time. The brilliance of the original cabinetmaker is also on full display as apparent by the four masterfully turned and fluted legs which support this piece. The cabinet measures 17" wide x 16 1/4" deep x 31 1/4" tall.
