Bay Colony Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this wonderful early 19th century antique Sheraton fancy paint chair. We’re constantly asked for accent chairs, but most that we encounter don’t warrant the cost of shipping them around the country. This chair is certainly an exception, and is absolutely lovely. The chair has a fine neoclassical gold stenciled design with wreaths and acanthus leaves over a painted green and brown surface. The legs exhibit great character with nice turnings and yellow painted accents. The design is consistent with furniture made along the Massachusetts & Vermont border, and the chair originally had a cane seat as evident from the holes underneath, which was later converted to a plank seat. The chair is in wonderful condition and is nice & sturdy. The chair measures 18 1/2” wide x 18” deep x 31 3/4” tall with an 18” seat height.
