Antique Sheraton Cherry & Bird's Eye Maple Cupboard with Exceptional Glass Knobs

With our highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques proudly offers this wonderful antique cupboard. This piece is absolutely perfect for a country farmhouse or a home with historical elements. These cupboards are incredibly popular and have become quite rare to find as they enhance any space that they occupy. Whether someone is searching for a smaller kitchen cupboard, an interesting dining room server, or a practical bedside cabinet the versatility provided by this cupboard is considerable. As the history of this piece extends back two hundred years, the remarkable condition in which it has remained speaks volumes to the care and preservation those who once owned this cabinet previously had provided for it.

The cabinet has a raised gallery that is scrolled and arched in the center with dovetailed joined ends. The entire piece is constructed from a beautiful selection of cherry with bird's eye maple chosen for the curved drawer face and the "S" curved columns. The drawer is fitted with two of the finest antique glass knobs we have ever encountered. Each knob is faceted with diamond lattice patterns and an incised design that simulate punch carvings. A raised beadwork design in a circular pattern furthers the intricacy and beauty of both knobs. The drawer is joined with hand-cut dovetails and rests over two cabinet doors that open to reveal a large interior storage space complete with a single shelf. The cabinet is raised on two ogee formed front feet and finely turned rear legs on ball feet. Both sides are built with frame and panel construction and the back of the piece demonstrates considerable age with naturally oxidized backboards.

This antique cupboard measures 26 3/4" wide x 20 3/4" deep x 37" tall at the gallery. The top surface is 33" tall off the floor.
