Antique Sheraton 3 Drawer Mahogany Sewing Stand / Worktable
Antique Sheraton 3 Drawer Mahogany Sewing Stand / Worktable
Bay Colony Antiques is pleased to offer for sale this wonderful early 19th century antique Sheraton Mahogany 3 drawer worktable / nightstand. The stylization of the Acanthus carved legs suggests a New York City origin. The stand has been continuously used as a sewing table up until a couple of years ago, and is still loaded with vintage buttons, threads, seam rippers, and other sewing supplies. If the next owner would like the supplies, we can put all of the contents into a box and ship it with the stand. We absolutely love the three drawer format and the tall stature of the table. The stand began its life with wood knobs which were later upgraded with late 19th century brass batwing pulls. Overall, the stand remains in great condition with our only major notes being minor surface wear, a few small veneer chips, & some old “make-do” repairs by a previous owner. We’ll ask our restorer to repair the missing veneers & also have him properly repair the old wood putty repairs on the second and third drawer free of charge. Because this is slightly taller than most stands that we encounter we think it would be a good fit for a bedside table or nightstand. The stand measures 22 5/8” wide x 15 1/2” deep x 32 3/8” tall.
