Antique Queen Anne Pennsylvania Walnut Country Tavern Table With Center Drawer
Antique Queen Anne Pennsylvania Walnut Country Tavern Table With Center Drawer
With our highest compliments Bay Colony Antiques takes the utmost pleasure in offering this charming early 19th century antique tavern table. The entire table is constructed from old growth black walnut which has traditionally been the primary wood of choice in Pennsylvania since the colonial era. The black walnut lumber featured in this table is considerably denser compared to ordinary walnut and the difference becomes apparent whenever the table must be handled. The table features a two-board top which overhangs the entire table frame as traditional antique tavern tabletops often do. The center of the table has a single drawer which is constructed from a walnut drawer face and a well oxidized country secondary wood. The drawer has a finely chamfered drawer panel visible from underneath as well as exceptional hand cut dovetails joining the drawer frame together. The surface of the table displays a beautiful antique walnut finish which has aged wonderfully throughout time. Additionally, the surface is well worn with excellent signs of age and continual use that overall bolster the primitive charm which makes this table so desirable. The four turned legs are indictive of the earliest part of the 19th century when the influence of the American Sheraton style was most prevalent in early furniture construction. American tavern tables, particular those made for rural country interiors, have become among the most heavily sought after furniture forms across the country. Aside from the premium grade of walnut and masterful furniture construction that this table displays, the overall size and scale makes this example incredibly desirable among collectors looking for the perfect piece for their primitive interior. The table measures 40 1/2" wide x 27 1/2" deep x 29 1/4" tall overall.
