This is without a doubt one of the nicest examples we’ve encountered in quite some time and are excited to offer it to our collectors around the country.
From a local Connecticut estate the table was made in New England during the second half of the 19th century. Pumpkin Pine is not its own unique species of wood, but a trade term used for when old growth New England White Pine develops this rich orange patina. The table has a single board top and single boards used for each leaf. Each leaf is supported by two swing out shuttles built into the table box and the table retains its original old iron hinges. The table box is peg joined and the legs have an interesting turning pattern. The table is in great condition with our only notes being minor surface wear. The table measures 73 1/4” long x 21 3/4” wide . When the leaves are locked up the table is 41 1/8” wide .
