19TH CENTURY PRIMITIVE PIE SAFE WITH PUNCHED TIN PANELS SIGNED CHITTENDEN & EASTMAN BURLINGTON, IOWA
We are pleased to offer you this signed Chittenden & Eastman primitive poplar pie safe. This is Chittenden & Eastman of Burlington, Iowa's "Portable Dovetailed Safe". It has a 1889 pattern date with two top drawers, double doors beneath the drawers opening to reveal three shelves. Both its right and left sides has wonderful double decorative punched tin panels. This is a great original American Mid Western Antique Pie Safe and not some cobbled together creation we have been seeing all too often lately. We note a small chip on the bottom of the right top drawer and an old repair to the right door frame after someone probably let the door swing open while moving it incorrectly. Its a very old repair. We make no apology or excuses for it but instead practicing our full condition disclosure policy. We have been having difficulty finding correct Pie Safes. We see a few each month but they have all been made from parts of other cabinets and we do not sell monkeyed up pieces. That's an auction house practice. Here we only sell absolutely correct items. It is 38 1/2" long, 16 1/2" wide and 56 1/2" tall.
