Bay Colony Antiques is pleased to offer for sale this fantastic & original early 20th century antique Oak Larkin single door bookcase / China cabinet. Larkin started as a soap company in Buffalo NY and would include free furniture with large soap orders and eventually became a smaller version of Sears Roebuck with an extensive catalog just like Amazon. Unlike Amazon, Larkin manufactured most of their products in large factories in Buffalo and employed a large number of people. If you've been in the market for a nice Oak cabinet for some time you won't want to miss this clean & completely undisturbed example. The bookcase is in its original surface which has remained in pretty good condition with our only notes being some minor surface wear and some light crackling to the old factory finish. The cabinet also retains its original glass panel with its charming minor imperfections like rippling & seeding which occurred when the molten glass was cooling & give primitive glass its distinct appearance. The original paper Larkin label is still present on the back and there are a couple of production numbers stamped in black ink. The interior of the cabinet has 4 adjustable shelves with usable dimensions of 25 1/2” wide x 10” deep. The overall dimensions of the cabinet are 29” wide x 13” deep x 54” tall.
