Antique Oak 13 Drawer Flat File Cabinet / Map Filing Cabinet
Antique Oak 13 Drawer Flat File Cabinet / Map Filing Cabinet
Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this wonderful early 20th century antique Arts & Crafts Tiger oak 13 drawer flat file cabinet. This is a combination cabinet with 9 long flat drawers for maps, prints, drawings etc. and 4 larger drawers that give the cabinet more utility than your standard flat file cabinet. The cabinet has a slanted top with a raised front edge which is nice if you’re using the cabinet top as a work surface or to display something on. This is an unusual form that we haven’t encountered before and are excited to offer this to our collectors across the country. Each drawer possesses their original thumb molded brass pulls and showcases a beautiful quarter sawn Oak grain. The cabinet retains its original factory finish which is in pretty good condition considering the cabinet is over 100 years old. There is some light veneer bubbling on the backboards and towards the bottom of the side panels, but nothing that would demand swapping them out and altering the originality of the piece in our opinion. The larger drawers have useable dimensions of 11” wide x 18 1/2” deep x 3” tall. The skinnier drawers don’t have the divider in the middle that a lot of these have so they can be used at full width and have usable dimensions of 23 3/4” wide x 17 3/4” deep x 1 3/8” tall. The overall dimensions of the cabinet are 32" wide x 23 1/4" deep x 47 1/2" tall at the back edge.
